I loved this article... it reminded me of the many reasons I have come to love and admire the use of ASL so much.
Etel Leit, Miss SignShine ^_^, wrote “Signing enhances children’s ability to take in and store information because it combines so many modes of learning."
It reminded me of when my now four year old son learned all his letters by sight by the age of 18 months. It has eliminated problems with writing letters such as when children try to distinguish the difference between "b"/"d" and "M"/"W". There is no question in their mind, since the letters are so distinguishable in the signed language.
